Extraction of Commander TU-8271

Author: SSgt. Nito | Combat Medic

This report details the extraction of Commander TU-8271, a separate report will detail the death of RFLM ‘Glitch’

Overall the operation was a success, the force I led -consisting of Sgt Cliffer, Cpl Antom, Lcpl Stone and RFLM ‘Glitch’- managed to extract the commander with only one casualty. We slipped into the planet’s atmosphere in the AHF ‘Cloak’ without detection and deployed using parachutes. Lcpl Stone collided with a tree and was briefly incapacitated on his descent, the sound of which attracting two guards. Luckily we managed to evade detection.

After entering the forest, we began to advance towards the compound which held the Commander. Concerningly, this was a base set up by a remnant group from the thought to be eliminated rebel force. To progress to the compound we needed to evade detection from the network of watchtowers keeping the forest clear of hostiles. This was achieved due to Lcpl Stone creating a distraction while Glitch phased into the tower and dispatched the security present, he then sent a message to all other towers stating that everything was under control.

After breaking through the initial watchtower network, we reached the rebel compound in the heart of the forest, it was located inside a large divot in the ground allowing us to jump onto the roof from our position, unfortunately this also meant that our non pilot operatives had to find other ways down. While we contemplated this, sgt Cliffer inadvertently alerted an enemy sniper to our position which resulted in him sustaining a knife wound to the chest, luckily, Cpl Antom dealt with the sniper without alarming the rest of the base and before he could cause more harm. The pilot certified elements of the squad were able to get onto the roof with no issue but Cpl Stone had to be lifted by Antom. Glitch attempted to reach the compound by himself but was unsuccessful, the sound of which alerted the enemy to our presence.

This is where things took a turn for the worse, our position was immediately revealed and we had an enemy titan encroaching on our position; Ronin class but modified with thrusters, call sign ‘Jupiter’. In order to evade Jupiter and to get closer to the commander’s containment, Antom used a grenade to breach the roof of the building and get inside. We had to dispatch of numerous enemy guards as we made our way to the commander’s containment, where Faris breached the door with a sledgehammer. We found him bisected and powered off and it was here that Sgt Cliffer’s previous injury caused him to fall unconscious. To make matters worse Jupiter intended to blast us through the walls with his shotgun, we barely made it out alive as I carried the injured Sgt Cliffer and Cpl Antom carried the commander’s upper body (an extremely impressive feat).

With the Commander finally in our hands we called for extraction. We narrowly escaped the compound and retreated out into the forest where we used the cover to temporarily evade Jupiter. When we finally neared evacuation, RFLM Glitch was forced to sacrifice himself to destroy the enraged Jupiter and his titan. After this we extracted with no further issues. Sgt Cliffer’s wound was infected but easily treatable once we returned to AHA space.

After this operation I recommend a promotion for Cpl Antom as well as an investigation into the concerningly alive rebel presence.
