The interception of the super destroyers Æsir, Heimdall and Fimblewinter. Led by mysef, SFC Labayen, the team contained MSgt. Milan, Sgt. Marovski and Com. Kerm. The objective was to terminate or capture a certain Captain Agmundr, an ex-PHC pilot of extraordinarily high skill.
The flotilla of three vessel was stationed in an asteroid field in sector [216-671] approximately [75 AU] from Orthros.
The fleet of the 3rd battalion consisted of the flagship Rift Walker, the battleship Callisto’s Dream and roughly half of the fleet’s frigates, destroyers and cruisers.
Com. Kerm gratefully brought along the carrier Castellum, the super-heavy railgun mounted on it helped turn the tide of battle.
As well as this, there was assistance from the RE mercenary fleet.
The battle began when several smaller ships entered the asteroid field to no avail, prompting the involvement of the Castellum and Callisto’s Dream.
Both vessels were struck by introductionary fire from the three ships, with the Castellum suffering heavy damage nearly immediately. The ensuing battle resulted in the crippling of the Callisto’s Dream and the Rift Walker, prompting their withdrawal.
The rest of the 3rd’s fleet was deployed, and with assistance from Commander Kerm and the 2nd, two of the destroyers, Heimdall and Fimblewinter, were destroyed. The Æsir was crippled and a boarding operation was enacted by myself, MSgt. Milan, Sgt. Marovski and Com. Kerm.
The boarding operation was commenced after the reactor of the Æsir was crippled by a precision railgun round from the Castellum. My team and I entered the ship near the command centre, facing stiff resistance from enemy forces. Com. Kerm suffered multiple bullet injuries from a machine gun burst. Upon breaching the entrance to the command room, we were repeatedly attacked by the captain of the vessel, Cpt. Agmundr. This resulted in the brief unconsciousness of MSgt. Milan and myself, and a broken arm for Sgt. Marovski. The captain was apprehened and placed into custody, and following our evacuation the Æsir detonated in a scuttling explosion.
